South Australia strengthens its engagement with India on future water challenges
On 12 February 2018, the South Australian Government expanded its cooperation with India on water through the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra.
South Australia continues to lead the way nationally with tangible partnerships on water across the world, delivering mutual benefit to the State and the regions involved, through joint work on policy frameworks, research, technology transfer ultimately leading to new exports of water technologies and services.
Water Industry Alliance members Dematec Automation, Optimatics and Hydro-dis were invited to present to Maharashtra Government water officials in Adelaide on the back of their previous
involvement at the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII-Triveni Water Institute) 3rd Water Innovation Summit last year.
In addition, the Government of Maharashtra is considering engaging Hydro-dis for further projects throughout India and the Alliance has been invited to participate in the development of the Maharashtra Innovation Centre.
The key areas for cooperation that have been agreed between the Government of Maharashtra and South Australia include expertise in water storage, transfer, conflicts between agriculture and rural water demand, governance and coordination, across border water sharing, wastewater treatment and pricing systems.
