Join us for the first Members' Night of 2019. We will be joined by special guest, Peter Seltsikas, Senior Manager Asset Management at SA Water who will share with us SA Water's water supply strategy for the Eyre Peninsula.

The Eyre Peninsula relies on underground basins for much of their water with over 50 bores available to draw water that is of a drinking water standard and requires very little treatment.

A long term plan for the region was established by SA Water in 2008 that identified a seawater desalination plant as the preferred option to supplement the existing groundwater supply for the Eyre Peninsula.

The plant was deferred in 2011 as water demand reduced and recharge of the groundwater improved however, after several years of low rainfall and low recharge of the groundwater supply SA Water are re-investigating the option for a small seawater desalination plant to support water security for the region and ensure an ongoing supply of safe, clean, drinking water across the Eyre Peninsula.
