The International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management
(ICE WaRM)
The International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) provides a national focus and international gateway to Australia’s expertise in water. The Centre facilitates collaboration and acts as a broker in the development and delivery of water-related research, education and training programmes. ICE WaRM was established in 2004 as an Australian Government initiative, with the support of the SA Government. For more information visit www.icewarm.com.au.

National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT)
The National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training is a Co-Funded Centre of Excellence of the Australian Research Council and the National Water Commission. The Centre was established in June 2009 with Commonwealth funding of $29.5M over five years. The Centre represents a nationwide alliance of twenty-one universities, government and industry partners. Subsequent to the award of this core funding, the Centre was awarded an additional $15M over four years to develop groundwater research infrastructure. as part of the Australian Government's Super Science (Marine and Climate) initiative, funded by the Education Infrastructure Fund and administered by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. With the aim of enhancing Australia’s future environmental, economic, social and cultural wellbeing by building a high quality and integrated program of groundwater research. Responding to the diverse needs of Australia’s groundwater professionals for over twenty years, the Centre’s Industry Training Program leads the way in technical education, offering specialised short courses, technology transfer, technical training and workshops across the country.

The Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing
The Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing fosters excellence in research in materials science, chemistry, biology and physics and develops disruptive new tools for measurement.
Experimental physics research of any flavour focuses on pushing the limits of what can be measured. IPAS creates the opportunity to invent and harness new tools for measurement to address many of the current exciting big questions in science. Many of the challenges we face as a society can only be solved by pursuing a transdisciplinary approach that brings together experimental physicists, chemists, material scientists, biologists, experimentally driven theoretical scientists and medical researchers to create new sensing and measurement technologies. This is the vision of IPAS. We work to create new tools that will change the questions scientists can ask, stimulate the creation of new industries, and create a new profession of transdisciplinary problem solvers.
