SA Water, in conjunction with the Water Industry Alliance, are giving you an exclusive opportunity to hear a select number of innovators pitch their latest game changing ideas for the water industry.
Meet the Presenters!
.......................................................................................................................................................................................................
SA Water carries out a significant amount of innovation, research and development internally, and the senior leaders have nominated five speakers who will share the latest innovation initiatives. See below for the list of SA Water presenters:
Presentation One – Use of granular sludge to increase the capacity of Sequencing Batch Reactors used in wastewater treatment
Ben van den Akker is acting manager of the Wastewater Research Group at SA Water where he conducts multidisciplinary research with the focus on improving the sustainability of wastewater treatment to deliver improvements in energy efficiency and reductions in emissions.
Presentation Two - Commercial Innovations | Target Cost Contracting
Steven Patriarca is a tertiary qualified procurement and contracts professional with over a decade of experience in the Water and Environment industries. As Category Lead Construction at SA Water, Steven aligns customer needs with the supply chain to deliver value for money outcomes.
Presentation Three – Fast, cost-effective mapping of seagrass
Amanda Mussared is a scientist working in the Sensor, Technology and Asset research area of SA Water. Amanda’s role is to identify new technologies that can improve the efficiency of SA Water’s operations.
Seagrass is a critical marine habitat in South Australia. Amanda’s presentation will showcase a technology that aims to provide fast, cost-effective mapping of seagrass so that it can be appropriately managed and preserved.
Presentation Four - To be advised
Presentation Five - New molecular technology to optimise water quality management
Gary Hallas is Method Development Coordinator in the Life Sciences Team of the Australian Water Quality Centre, where he is employing the latest molecular (DNA based) technology to allow rapid tracking of animal contamination sources, providing a better understanding of water contamination events and associated risks.
This cutting-edge technology provides operators with improved tools to better evaluate risks to human health, adding efficiency to the water quality management process.
.......................................................................................................................................................................................................
Five WIA member companies, selected from a competitive pitching workshop, will pitch their innovative solutions representing the wider water industry. See below for the WIA member company presenters:
Hydrosmart
Hydrosmart is a South Australian company manufacturing an electronic desalinating and antiscaling technology that enables water to remediate problems without need of chemicals or with greatly reduced chemical requirement.
Sentek
Sentek Technologies is an award-winning company that designs, develops, and manufactures sensors and solutions for precision measurement and management of soil moisture and salinity dynamics. Sentek’s technology is used to simply visualize the dynamics of the plant-water-soil-atmosphere interactions.
Irrigators and crop managers use Sentek solutions to manage their day-to-day irrigation and fertigation requirements, but the products also have applications in turf, landscape, agriculture, research, mining and environmental management. Sentek equipment is sold and supported worldwide by an established distributor network which currently spans over 80 countries.
RedEye
RedEye is an Engineering Data Management Solution (EDMS) helping clients improve the way they upload, work with, share, find, print, markup, submit, redraft, approve, store and manage their engineering drawings across the entire life cycle of each drawing and its associated asset.
RedEye is a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that enables our clients to take advantage of cloud computing to drive productivity and efficiency into their projects and operations. We have carefully assembled our team to offer the perfect mix of on-the-ground industry experience and technical expertise because our goal is to offer our clients a world-class solution for Engineering Drawing Collaboration and Management.
Maric Flow Control
The Maric constant flow valves are an Australian invention, manufactured locally. With the ability to limit and maintain a constant flow rate regardless of pressure, these valves are finding innovative applications In the management of flow rates in the delivery of water supply services.
Hydro-dis Water Treatment Systems
The revolutionary Hydro-dis® technology supersedes traditional chemical and non-chemical disinfection systems, through the in-situ generation of Chlorine from existing Chloride ions within the source water body, thereby eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals. The fully automated modular nature of the technology enables it to applied to both small and large disinfection projects ranging from Potable, Non Potable and Waste Water applications.
