The Moonta Bay/Port Hughes Wastewater Treatment plant is designed to treat water for a total of approximately 3,500 residences as well as commercial and community properties.
The plant is being implemented to prevent the potential environmental damage due to the current use of septic tanks and the leaching of nitrogen and phosphorus rich water into the groundwater from failing tanks.
The total cost of the plant will cost approximately $25 Million and will be completed over a 5 year staged plan.
