Current estimates reveal that the use of BioCentral’s products PolyCom™, a polymer based material stabilising water additive, and DustChek™, a biodegradable ecologically safe dust suppressant, in the local government and mining sectors has saved approximately 1.8 billion litres of water in three years.
Polymer stabilisation heralds a new era in the road construction industry. In many cases it is outperforming traditional methods of road stabilisation such as the use of cement and lime. PolyCom™ provides greater material density, which, by design delivers a more resilient carriageway reducing “washboarding” type traffic and water born erosion damage.
DustChek™ meets the highest industrial and environmental performance standards and contributes significantly to a reduction in the use of our most precious resource, water.
Using DustChek™ assists mine site managers to achieve greater mechanical efficiencies and dust management outcomes. With as much as 90% of the water required in haul road maintenance schedules eliminated, reductions in fuel, tyre and service costs are realised.
This versatile product can be applied to any material and DustChek™ has also been used to suppress dust in vineyards, cotton gins and surrounding roads to minimise damage to valuable crops during harvest.
“PolyCom™ and DustChek™ deliver real environmental outcomes to our customers. When one also considers the cost of fuel, wear and tear on plant and equipment and human resources essential to moving that much water, the product cost pales into insignificance,” said BioCentral’s General Manager, Tony Morisset.
