Philmac, Adelaide-based innovator and manufacturer of premium quality plastic fittings and valves, has utilised its superior problem solving capabilities in the area of connecting polyethylene pipe to create a unique plastic compression fitting specifically for the French market.
Designed to provide the strength of metal with the durability of plastic, the specialised fittings were created for global water supplier Veolia Water as a result of ongoing challenges with the use of brass fittings in France’s municipal water network.
Philmac Managing Director Chris Stathy said his company’s commitment to innovation and its capability in the manufacturing of plastic compression fittings made it well suited to the challenge.
“Philmac was the first in the world to create an all-plastic compression fitting to connect Polyethylene pipe and we’ve since developed a number of tailored solutions around connecting polyethylene pipes for customers worldwide,” Mr Stathy said.
“In the case of Veolia Water, Philmac was the only company to demonstrate the capabilities needed to meet the stringent and specific strength requirements of the task at hand.
“This business opportunity has consolidated our position as a significant exporter to European utilities,” Mr Stathy said.
Adelaide-based water supplier United Water, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Veolia Water, was instrumental in developing the relationship between Philmac and Veolia Water (France) and had no hesitation in recommending Philmac for the challenge.
“Not only does Philmac’s success provide a positive representation of their brand on a global level, but it showcases the capabilities of South Australia when it comes to solution-based innovation and manufacturing for the water industry,” United Water Chairman, Mike Terlet AO said.
